I am an experienced MHFA instructor having facilitated over twenty courses for Fire + Rescue NSW and many other volunteer and first responder organisations as well as media organisations including SBS and Channel Nine.
I am also qualified in the provision of MHFA for the suicidal person — a four hour course which teaches people the skills and knowledge required to safely have a conversation with a suicidal person.
Mental Health First Aid teaches members of the general public as well as those working in health how to recognise signs and symptoms of a developing mental illness, how to have a conversation with someone you are concerned about and how to respond to people with a mental health condition or in a mental health crisis situation. It is now recognised in over 20 countries internationally and has a strong evidence base.
